I dont have a problem signing 1 yr agreement because my 140 will take at least another 8 months ( Feb 08) and by the time next years budget opens up for good new Jobs its already Mar 08.
But my concern is if my employer wants me to hang on with them till 485 is approved and then 1 more year

Dear all,
I was wondering if any one on this forum has filed his/her AOS with NSC and their case will be transferred to TSC (due to I140 approved from TSC) and has got the filing receipts yet?
My application (based on lawyer's email) should have reached NSC on July 2nd, but haven't got the checks cashed yet or got the receipts yet...
I was wondering that my case will most likely be transferred to TSC from NSC. I am thinking lot of guys are in same situation as me, but have you guys received any receipt yet?

Hello Friends
We can not win this battle without attention from visual media like News Channel.
Traditionally we Indians are known to be camera shy silent listeners. But without the news and print media this issue will not catch enough attention from Washington to be debated. So, we have to come out of our shells and share emotional stories over news media. An inexpensive way of doing this without having to travel to any place would be to just switch on our webcam or camcorder and speak. We have to speak about the pains and put it into a story format. The content should highlight on the inefficiencies in the system , the discriminatory policies and loss to America because of the system. We definitely have to raise the following 2 issues
- recapture of lost visas over past years
- Per country visa limit
If we send thousands of these recordings as I-Reports to CNN over 2-3 days period, CNN will definitely do a story on our issue and that will catch public attention. We can decide to remain anonymous when sending the I-Reports too. We can probably do similar stuff with other news media. This will cost us nothing and will create enough news to drag attention.

We are simple human beings and most of the time we do not fully understand the law. I have 1000s of refugees in my city who flee Yugoslavia/Bosnia during ethnic cleansing/genocide of 1990s. US working with UN gave them refugee status and most of them have green cards now. Do I go there with my MS/BS degree and tell them that I was in the line before and I should have gotten the GC before them? No! Do I curse the system for that? No! Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

I have finally received my FP notice today for my I-485. My case was NSC-CSC-NSC. Never made any service request.
I have recently applied (paper based) for renewal of EAD and AP. Not sure if that triggered the FP notice.
I wish good luck to those who are still waiting for FP notice.

no it will not be voilation of the law at all. consider this scenario thats been going on for the last 30+ years. For example July 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was jan 2003 and the August 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was unavailable. EB2 india visa numbers might have already been used up when the August 2006 visa bulletin was released but they still accepted the AOS petitions filed until the end of July 2006, they did not issue an updated visa bulletin or a revised visa bulletin saying eb2 india numbers are used up and they will not accept eb2 india aos applications, they continued accpeting AOS applications until the end of july 2006.
If you have the patience you can go through the visa bulletin archieves and find many such examples. The point is for the last 30+ years USCIS\DOS accepted applications according to the visa bulletin even when visa numbers were used up, they could have just followed the same precedent that they themselves set for the last 30+ years and accepted the applications this time as well without issuing a revised visa bulletin. I am no legal expert but that is how i see it.

Even if the court agrees that this is a fiasco and would like to compensate the beneficiaries by allowing us to file for 485, it would be in direct violation of the law that " there must be a number available on the day of filing ".We don't have any numbers. The only way is get numbers and make every one file and the only way for that is to undo what the USCIS has done in the last 2 weeks of June. Just my thoughts. I myself will not support for skill Bill in current form. Too much H1b numbers will not only create a problem for US citizens it will also for current H1bs as well future H1bs. That 20% automatic adjustment and exemption for Cap for MS persons will increase supply and it will be tough to find a job if too many people are in the market. There are abundant jobs in India. Let people wait in India for 1 or 2 years to come here. Sustained immigration without increasing unemployment is better for US as well as potential immigrants. Otherwise Hate will increase. It is a hard fact but I guess I do not want to scare anyone. If you notice some people have got their JuLY 2ND filed cases receipt # and most of them have a Notice date of 08/04/2007 (the guys who got their receipt #). This notice date is the day the Receipt was generated. So today is 08/13/2007. It seems that USCIS is delaying this process of issuing receipts as that will give them a chance to reject applications after 17th. So I guess we should brace ourselves for rejection notices also......
Keep your chin up, guys. You have to understand that there must have been a large number of applications arriving in the USCIS basket. Things will take time - so will the receipts. Do not lose hope.
Why worry about things for which you have no control on? You certainly can control your actions. Maybe contribute to IV in money, time etc PLUS also show up at the rally and sign up a bunch of your friends. Action is the only solution to Worry. :)

I think more than anything we need organization. We need group of volunteers that focused on different tasks. for example a group of people call congress and follow up and post updates.
group of people lead the flower campaign and anther group wrk on informing the media
there should be a group organize the rally and contact people to sponser.
Again avoid the 21 of july because the media would cover HP book instead of the protest.

1) 3 people were making hunger strike at SJSU over the last weekend for DREAM act and we come to know about it thru 1510 AM, KLIVE in Bay Area.
2) Immigration Voice members are planning to make a rally in SJ and we need to read it in the forum of (only) their website.
3) We are hungry about media coverage and want utmost attention of the congressmen about our issues.
BUT, you know what we are missing?:
1) No postings on the windows of those Bharat Bajars and Cash N Carrys and Kumuds. Can't the i-phone designers and router gurus make Ashas and Abhijeets invisible with some eye catching posters?
2) No postings on those other popular websites like murthy.com, immigration-law.com, bata.org etc. Did they say no for this?
3) No usage of the library notice boards.
4) No usage of SMS. Isn't it much cheaper than making contributions to the IV repeatedly?
I hope to see all these channels being utilized fully for July 14/21 march in Bay Area before we talk about CNNs and WPs.
Once the streets of SJ are hit with 1000+ people, those NBCs and CNNs and SJMs will come to us rather than we going to them.
As for myself, I am in whenever the event takes place and will try to bring at least 5 of my friends to the march.
P.S.: This is not an effort to criticize anyone here but just an attempt to help the organizers in whatever way I can.
