Mr. Vayalar Ravi , Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs,is coming to USA on June 27,2006. He is coming to Washington DC on July 4 to meet Indian Ambassador and Indian community. We should try to meet him personally and explain the problems we are facing. He can talk to US counterparts and do something for us.
Let us organize an event to meet him on July 4. Since It is a holiday, lot of people can meet him and chat with him.

Sorry, we are closed now. Sanjeev_2004 decided that we should do it based on PD. So we are going to give out GCs based on Priority Dates only. We have already send out the communications about the decision to the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security and the White House for them to follow the order of this thread.

Hey UN, with your experience, are you seeing a pattern of denials, etc happening to non bodyshopper, non consultants as well? as in, is this whole DOL/USCIS crack down across the board or is it mostly restricted to desi consultants/bodyshopers?

Hey guys
My PR card in Canada was not issued; they rejected the photos I submitted with the original application. Now they're asking I submit new ones in PERSON!
I will need to get a Canadian Travel document now to re-enter Canada now. Does anyone know how long it takes to get that issued?
Plus, Since I'm using AP as well the whole re-entering the US with the Canadian Visas in my passport is once again an issue. I'm considering giving up on the PR card, since I've technically already completed my landing; I can re-apply for the PR card if and when I decide to move to Canada permanently. Can you guys advise?

And who is hurting because of this? Is it not you? And me? and our families? Whose fault is it that we refuse to actively participated in the effort that wants us to lead a stable life.
You see, most people here work in IT. So we have binary logic. 0 & 1. There is no in between. So most people in this community of educated illiterates wants the world to be perfectly aligned before we lift a finger. Lets wait for few more years for GC before we contribute my hard earned $20 after bickering for 10 years, way to go.

May be "educated illiterates" is a too strong word to describe our community. But no complaints, I know that sometime passion run high and we use strong words to convey our feelings. I know you mean all good for IV and the community.
I am contributing to IV with my time/money/efforts from a long time. I had several face to face interactions with people here in Colorado when I used to ask them why they shy away from fighting for what they deserve. Trust me, it would be unfair to say that people want someone else to fight on their behalf, but what people want is an organization that can represent them in a fair manner, and they feel that IV has a long way to go before that stage comes. I posted a summary of suggested reforms in IV as a organization, but unfortunately it did not spark that positive debate which can bring such reforms. You can read the thread in your leasure time:

Transparency in its action is one such big thing. Lets just learn from an anti immigration forum called numbersusa.com. When you donate to NumbersUSA, you can be sure that the money is used responsibly." Can we here at IV make such bold statement and prepare ourselves to prove this point if a member ask such question?

For your Information India's GDP is 3 trillion USD compare to Mexico 1 trillion USD. Taking into account GDP of EU India ranks 5th in GDP higher than any indivisual European nation where as Mexico ranks 13th. This is as per CIA worldfactbook. So where did you get the number

But since you raised the subject, PPP GDP is adjusted to accomodate for different inflation and consumption rates in different countries. Without the PPT adjustment, India's GDP is equal to Mexico's, even though India has 11 times the population of Mexico. The reason India comes in 4th with the PPP adjustment in the world is because the ruppee is undervalued and Indians have a purchasing power that is 4 times smaller than Mexicans. So, to humor you and use your method of calculation, the Per Capita GDP (PPP) Of India is $3,344 in 2006 and Mexico's is $12,886. "Where are all the Mexican doctores, computer scientists, economists and professors?" you ask. The answer is: They are IN MEXICO making huge salaries, when the Indian ones have to come here because their salaries in India don't give them enough money to eat. Why aren't all the construction workers and lawn workers in the U.S. Indian? Because they cannot affor the airfare. The Mexicans just walk accross the border. Any you know what? All those Indian Professors at Harvard etc are teaching class to all those rich Mexican kids. Get your facts straight before you confront me and make fun of my MBA (which I got in the U.S. incidentally, not Mexico, but if I had wanted I could have gotten a top 20 MBA back home). I just recated to people's racist attacks here. So now, if you have anything to contribute to our IV common cause, welcome! If Reps win CIR might not pass at all. Since border Fence bill is passed now it shows Reps want a border security only bill. Remember Senate was opposing to a border security bill First? What happened now. America raised voice about it. And congress reacted by passing it.
If Dems win we stand a chance that CIR would be debated. Few legals provisions would squeezed into this CIR bill(which is maily for undocumented and ag worker). However its important that Dems take control of both senate and house.
Ont he flip side if Reps will, atleast there is a possiblity that SKIL bill might pass. that would help us.
