Don't mean to hijack this thread but since my question is related to AP renewal I thought I would. OP if you have problem with this question, let me know and I will delete this post.
I will be applying for AP renewal online for myself and my wife. This will be our 3rd AP (2nd renewal). The only problem is we never received the I-485 physical receipt (we know the LIN no. as well as A#) for her. So far my attorney had been filing the renewals but this time I want to save money and do it myself. I think its kind of stupid to pay 600-800 to attorney for such a simple task.
Has anyone been in this situation? Can anyone suggest, what other document we could use such as copy of prior APs, EADs, FP notices etc?

I was looking at the flcdatacenter website for Perm labors filed in 2006, and here are the numbers of total perm filed :
Total : 105960
India : 26636 = 25.2%
China : 8222 = 7.75%
No wonder china is moving faster in the EB categories

That is so not true. Even though Dallas was faster than Philly, it only cleared labor for 2003 and earlier filers in 2005. Essentially Dallas mostly cleared only those cases in 2005 which were stuck at regional and not state level. My labor was cleared in late 2006.

As promised I have prepared the list of 110th congress member and send to Himanshu. Hope he likes the format.
I am working on getting appointment with our congress member - John Barrow of GA.
Based on the list I prepared, it seems maximum number of congress member come from NY,NJ,FL,CA,TX,IL. So I think member from these states have to be more active.

No questions asked about visa or 485. Just had to show my passport and AP document :)
Thanks for the response. My wife has started working on EAD. So when she comes back, will she have to enter on AP? And as you said, they would not ask for I-485 receipts...Correct? I don't have I-485 receipts and I am just scared that if they ask for it, and I don't have it, then what happens...
Do you know of someone who was asked for the I-485 receipts on their way back?

The slides has made a strong case with lots of facts compiled together. You can present the slides to your lawmakers or their staff, or the media if you get a chance..

Anyway, I understand that many people are in the same situation and that makes it a bit better. I will wait... Thanks for the replies...
Its just scary that after all these years they might consider the case abandoned if you don't receive the damn FP letter. Some guys didn't even get the receipts yet. I feel for those...
P.S.: Anybody got the case closed because they missed the FP appointment ? Is there a way to reopen it ?

This is a very very special case, and using this case to prove the need for maintaining H1 is very shaky.
If the one without valid status is an adult, leaving country will be no good because of the 10+ years out-of-status will lead to a huge bar of visa. So the only point is: the person happen to be under 18 and could have used that to avoid the visa bar. But, HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE A CHILD THAT HAS BEEN OUT OF STATUS FOR 10+ YEARS ???
What's the good of paying to get an edge that you are never going to use? Of course, I definitely see it is good for the lawyer, since applying for H1 is almost 10 times more costly than applying for EAD!
